Wyness is “sure” about losing more points following the dispute.

Keith Wyness, the former head of Everton, has proposed that Nottingham Forest should be fined rather than having further points deducted for their VAR outburst and the ensuing controversy.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated the Midlands club was incorrect to threaten legal action following their 2-0 away loss to Everton last week (April 21). He made this claim on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

Just minutes after the end of play at Goodison Park, Forest issued a statement on X, stating they are “considering options” moving forward and that they had “warned” the PGMOL that Stuart Atwell, the VAR official, “is a Luton fan.”

This season, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has already lost four points due to a violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League.

Wyness claims that Nottingham Forest “were wrong” to take legal action due to an impending fine.

Wyness stated that Forest will probably receive another penalty, but this one will be a “financial penalty.”

He said on the Insider Track podcast of Football Insider: “I’m sure there will be no point deduction for this.”

Forest will most likely have to pay a fine. The club might be hit with a financial fine, but I doubt it will be much more than that.I hate to keep talking about the CEO of the Premier League, Richard Masters. However, he discussed the unforeseen ramifications of the PSR scenario as a whole.

“It appears that these days, every club looks at their legal possibilities first.

That is the precipice about which I have been alerting you all along. Clubs must view legal measures as a last resort rather than a first.

This is an extremely risky trend.

“Forest misrepresented their consideration of options, which entails legal remedies.”

In other developments, an expert claims that Nottingham Forest is making PSR the “scapegoat” for a recent development.
