Wigan CEO Questions Support for London Broncos

Wigan Warriors CEO Kris Radlinski has raised a significant question regarding the lack of planning to ensure the success of the London Broncos in the Super League, akin to the levels of success seen by the Catalans Dragons. Radlinski believes that the Broncos, like the Dragons, should have had more support to thrive in the league.

The Catalans Dragons are considered a major success story in Super League expansion, a point discussed by both Eddie Hemmings and Radlinski on Hemmings’ podcast, The Eddie and Stevo Podcast. The French team has won a Challenge Cup and reached the Grand Final twice, losing to St Helens in 2021 and to Wigan Warriors in 2023. Their rise to becoming one of the elite teams in Super League is attributed partly to the support they received upon entering the competition nearly 20 years ago.

In contrast, the London Broncos have struggled to achieve similar success. Despite being around for nearly as long, the Broncos have not managed to maintain a consistent presence in the Super League since the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Radlinski’s question underscores the need for better strategies to support the Broncos and help them establish themselves in the league.
