“We’re Aware of the Challenge Ahead” – Ndidi Comments on Facing the Blues

Leicester City approach Saturday’s match against Birmingham City with a renewed sense of confidence, as highlighted by Wilfred Ndidi. Birmingham City will be visiting the King Power Stadium for the 3 pm kickoff. Ndidi, the Foxes midfielder, provided insights into the upcoming Sky Bet Championship clash against the Blues.

Following their recent 3-1 victory over Norwich City, Leicester City gained a crucial three points on Easter Monday, providing a timely boost in the midst of the Championship campaign. Having bounced back from a defeat to Bristol City just days earlier, Leicester now aim for consecutive victories as they prepare to face Birmingham City at Filbert Way on Saturday.

City’s Victory Over Norwich Signals Return to Form

Relive Leicester City’s highlights from their 3-1 triumph over Norwich City on Monday.

In an earlier statement this week, the midfielder remarked, “We were in need of a confidence boost and that win was just what we needed. It was a significant victory for us and extremely satisfying.”

“Conceding early from a corner can be challenging, but our team showed remarkable mentality and strength to bounce back,” the midfielder added. “The Bristol City match was tough, considering the travel and players returning from international duty, but we don’t make excuses – we lost. It was crucial to get back to winning ways.”

While the squad remains determined for an immediate return to the Premier League, they anticipate a tough challenge from Birmingham, who are focused on steering clear of the relegation battle at the bottom of the table.

I’m getting closer to full fitness, but it comes slowly and gradually. It doesn’t just come in one or two games.

While Leicester City has emerged victorious over Birmingham City twice this season, in both the league and the Emirates FA Cup, these victories were not without challenges for Enzo Maresca’s team.

“It’s going to be a tough match,” the Nigerian added. “It won’t be easy, but we’re prepared for the challenge. We’ll have to wait and see how it unfolds. We’ve defeated them twice already, so they might be seeking revenge, and the pressure of battling relegation adds another dimension to their game.

“They are struggling near the bottom of the table, but as a team, we understand our objectives and know what needs to be done. It’s crucial for us to remain united and focused. Every match is significant for us given our current position.

“At the moment, we’re trying not to burden ourselves with pressure. We’re solely concentrating on executing our plans. If we perform well, we have a chance of coming out on top.”

After being sidelined with an injury at the beginning of the year, Ndidi made his return in early March and has since started Leicester City’s last two league matches. He completed the full 90 minutes at Ashton Gate on Good Friday for the first time since the reverse fixture against Birmingham in late 2023.

Regarding his current fitness status, the 27-year-old stated, “I’m gradually nearing full fitness, but it’s a gradual process. It doesn’t happen overnight or within just a couple of games.”

“As we progress, we’ll assess how things unfold. Whenever I’m in the lineup, I’ll give my all, but achieving full fitness and confidence is a gradual process that develops game by game,” he added.
