Archie Gray’s performances for Leeds United have been nothing short of sensational this season as he’s broken through to the Championship title hopefuls. nevertheless, attention from other teams will need to be well monitored.
With the club having witnessed their family tree at the Elland Road field, Gray has continued in his family’s footseps, representing the Whites. Judging by his early exploits, he may be the best yet.
Naturally a midfielder, Gray has filled in at right-back when Daniel Farke’s inverted post was vacant. At barely 17 years old, he even replaced Djed Spence and Luke Ayling in the starting lineup. But Gray will have to be careful because Liverpool is supposedly keeping an eye on him.
Archie Gray may be best served staying at Leeds
To imply that Gray isn’t currently good enough to play for Liverpool is not a knock on his part.
The young player is plenty of potential and will most likely play in the Premier League, which could occur next season since Leeds is expected to finish in the top two.
It is his maturity, poise, persistence, and level-headedness—always performing at a level well above his years—that has elevated him so much above his contemporaries even at such a young age.
But if he were to move to Liverpool, Gray would struggle to find playing time even at right-back or in midfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold plays defense on the right side of the field, He’s widely regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world and an absolutely vital part of Liverpool’s system, which he will continue to be even when Jurgen Klopp departs in the summer.
Conor Bradley is also shining through at the moment and with his strong form resulting in appearances thanks to an injury to Alexander-Arnold, it would be almost defeating the object to rob him of game time to develop Gray.
