WANTED BY WEST HAM IN JANUARY, AJAX WINGER IS ON THE SHORTLIST OF OTHER PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS FOR THE SUMMER

According to reports by Fabrizio Romano, there is speculation surrounding the availability of Steven Bergwijn this summer, with a potential price tag of approximately £20 million. The winger from Ajax may find himself on the market as the Amsterdam club seeks solutions to address their financial challenges amidst a disappointing season. Additionally, Ajax is in the process of searching for a new head coach for the upcoming 2024/2025 campaign, adding further uncertainty to Bergwijn’s future.

Throughout the current Eredivisie season, Bergwijn has showcased his talent, tallying 12 goals and four assists in 23 appearances. His contributions extended to the Europa League, where he featured in five games and found the back of the net once. Bergwijn’s journey with Ajax began in the summer of 2022 when he made a high-profile move from Tottenham for approximately €31.25 million. Prior to his tenure with Ajax, Bergwijn amassed experience in the Premier League with Tottenham, featuring in 83 matches and registering eight goals along with nine assists. His time in England commenced after a successful stint with PSV, where he accumulated 149 appearances, scoring 31 goals, and providing 41 assists.

Despite his impressive track record, Bergwijn’s future remains uncertain as he remains under contract with Ajax until 2027. While Transfermarkt values him at around €20 million, it is likely that Ajax will seek a higher fee than the reported £20 million speculated by Romano and potential suitors from the Premier League.
