Trevor Lawrence is preparing to make his return to the field on Sunday. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ standout quarterback, who is officially listed as questionable due to a left shoulder injury, intends to play against the Houston Texans. This update comes from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who shared the news on Saturday citing a reliable source.
Lawrence has been sidelined for the past two games after sustaining the injury during the Jaguars’ Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. While he didn’t miss a single play during that game, the injury was more severe than it initially appeared—a significant AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder. The recovery process involved extensive rest and rehabilitation, with surgery also being considered as a potential option. However, after three weeks of recovery, Lawrence is determined to return to action despite the team’s difficult season, according to Rapoport.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson addressed the situation on Friday, stating that Lawrence was expected to play “as of right now.” All signs now point to Lawrence being ready to continue his fourth NFL season. His return follows a much-needed bye week for the Jaguars, who suffered a crushing 52-6 defeat in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions while backup quarterback Mac Jones filled in.
As the Jaguars look to turn the page on a turbulent season, Lawrence is aiming to finish strong and bring some momentum to the team despite their struggles. His comeback could provide the spark Jacksonville needs to end the season on a positive note.
