Get ready for the latest hot take from Caleb Williams this week. An increasing number of folks are emerging from the woodwork in the run-up to this April’s NFL Draft, trying to explain why they believe their assessment of this year’s class is the one that matters.
All in all, most people concur that Caleb Williams is the top quarterback prospect of the current class and possibly one of the best in the last five to six years. He is, at the absolute least, a decent enough potential to persuade the Bears to let go of Justin Fields. Saying “I watched all his snaps” gives you the right to follow that with the wildest opinion imaginable, according to a tiny number of individuals.
I do this for more than just clicks; I’m a former #NFL Scout. My ultimate goal is an NFL second chance. Caleb Williams receives a fourth-round grade from me. I had to confirm because of the way people “keep the receipts,” so I looked at every picture from the previous two seasons. That’s not him.
Although he doesn’t do it for clicks, a surprising number of people did click on it! Although it’s true that nobody else on the earth has a fourth-round rating for Caleb Williams, perhaps this guy does? And, believe it or not, he is all over the comments, trying to justify his worth and basically aggravating the situation.
It’s okay to argue against Williams being selected first overall if you want to be a bit of a contrarian; if you really wanted to, you could make a very reasonable case for that position. However, claiming that he is a fourth-round selection and supporting that claim with Twitter’s “I was kind of right about Trey Lance”Football at its best. The tweets full of quotes contain everything you would expect, and most likely what he should have anticipated.
