The Raiders’ Second-Round Selection Jackson Powers-Johnson on Becoming a Member of the Black and Silver

The Las Vegas Raiders improved upon their first-round selection of Brock Bowers by filling a major need on the second night of the NFL Draft. Even after signing Cody Whitehair, the Raiders still had a significant need at right guard. Jackson Powers-Johnson, a gifted guard from Oregon, was their choice.

Weighing in at over 300 pounds, Powers-Johnson will be a welcome addition to an offensive line that is lacking depth and quality. Although Powers-Johnson and Whitehair are anticipated to compete for the starting spot, the Raiders anticipate Powers-Johnson to play a significant role in the offense going forward because they selected him in the second round.

It was almost like a complete circle, Powers-Johnson remarked. “The Bay Area is where my grandparents are from. They are lifelong Raiders supporters. My great-grandparents and I, therefore, grew up with Raiders season tickets for twenty years. Big Raiders supporters there. My dream was truly initiated for me when I attended my first-ever NFL game, which was the 49ers vs. Raiders game. And as I mentioned previously, it was a bit of a complete circle. Additionally, playing at Allegiant Stadium was an experience unlike any other. intending to win a great deal more games there. It’s a memorable spot for me since I kind of scored a touchdown there, and I can’t wait to play there as many Sundays as I can”

Powers-Johnson aims to have the same effect on the Raiders offense that former Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell did on the Detroit Lions offensive line, despite the fact that they play different positions.

Penei [Sewell] is someone I’ve always looked up to,” Powers-Johnson remarked. “Penei was wearing number 58 at Oregon, but I had to change when I arrived since I was wearing a different number. I was given the option to select 58, and after I did, I kind of started to follow in his footsteps. Powers-Johnson: “Penei has my utmost respect.” Among the league’s top tackles. I’m going to work hard to make Oregon and his family proud, just like he has. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have met him and his family through Oregon and somewhat through Utah high school football. Big congratulations to him.
