The divorce between Grammy-nominated actor Teyana Taylor and ex NBA champion Iman Shumpert was allegedly brought on by Shumpert’s involvement in several cheating scandals and his narcissistic behaviour, according to court documents that were leaked and just obtained by TMZ.
After being married in 2016, the couple is currently embroiled in a widely advertised divorce.
Pursuant to court documents that were made public, Teyana first filed for divorce in January. The public was uninformed of this until she made her formal announcement on Instagram on September 17, 2023.
According to court records, Shumpert and Taylor look to be having a difficult marriage, with Taylor accusing Shumpert of acting cruelly and with severe narcissism.
According to court paperwork, Shumpert was always irritated when Taylor was in the spotlight, especially during picture shoots, where he would
These charges appear to be in direct opposition to Taylor’s public declaration from September, in which she angrily claimed that their breakup was due to adultery.
Taylor posted on Instagram, saying, “AHT AHT! Don’t overdo it, my best friend! To be fair, Iman and I have been apart for some time now. I want to make crystal clear: “infidelity” is not the reason we’re leaving.
She highlighted their enduring friendship, their effective co-parenting, and their enduring family bond over time.
The court documents, however, portray something else.
Taylor apparently used her initials in the petition in an attempt to keep the divorce proceedings covert at first.
However, Shumpert’s later request revealed their entire personal identities bringing their private struggles into the harsh light.
The couple, who are privileged to have two daughters, are currently facing the difficult reality of a court battle, with Taylor requesting joint legal custody, primary physical custody, and child support.
It’s interesting that in the middle of all of this madness, Iman Shumpert has decided to reply on X, formerly Twitter.
Using the microblogging site, he sent an extended declaration with the following caption:
“I’m about to talk up this for the first and last time.”
Iman Shumpert’s NBA career spanned a decade, beginning when the New York Knicks selected him with the 17th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draught.
He played for five different teams over ten seasons:
Knicks in New York: 2011–2015
Cavaliers of Cleveland: 2015–2018
Sacramento Kings: The years from 2018–2019
Houston Rockets: 2019
2019 Brooklyn Nets; 2021
Shumpert averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 461 regular-season games during his time alongside the team.
However, in 2016 he won an NBA possession with the Cavaliers.
