The Big 12 conference saw two of its programs earn top-two seeds in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championship. Texas, the reigning Big 12 champion, secured the No. 1 seed in both the I Eights and II Eights categories and the No. 2 seed in the Fours race. Meanwhile, Tennessee earned the No. 2 seed in the II Eights, No. 4 in the I Eights, and No. 7 in the Fours. The championship event will take place from May 31 to June 2 at East Fork/Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio.
The NCAA team championship features 22 teams, with 11 automatic bids and 11 at-large selections. Each team must field two boats of eight rowers and one boat of four rowers. All 22 boats in the First Eights, Second Eights, and Fours categories will be seeded into four heats.
This marks the second time in program history that Texas has earned the top overall seed, the first being in 2022. The Longhorns aim to become only the third program to win three NCAA titles in four years, having previously clinched national titles in 2021 and 2022.
Tennessee is set to make its 10th appearance in the NCAA Championship and its second since 2010, with their last participation occurring in 2021.
