Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is set to rotate his squad for the upcoming friendlies, with key players like Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, and Lloyd Kelly likely to see more action after making their pre-season debuts against Yokohama F. Marinos. Meanwhile, Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon have returned to training following their Euro 2024 duties with England, though their participation in the matches remains uncertain. Ryan Mmaee was set to make his return for Stoke City in a friendly match against Bolton Wanderers after almost four months away from the team. Unfortunately, just as he was about to rejoin the squad, Mmaee suffered a setback. He had missed the final weeks of the previous season due to a hamstring injury and had been working with the fitness staff over the summer to recover from a knee injury. He returned to full training on Thursday, with hopes of participating in the friendly at Bolton, but fell ill with tonsillitis on Sunday and was still running a fever yesterday.

Tottenham Hotspur are scheduled to play Bayern Munich twice within a week following the announcement of an additional friendly match. Earlier today, Tottenham confirmed they will face the Bundesliga champions in South Korea as part of the Coupang Play Series 2024, a set of pre-season games featuring top clubs from Europe and Korea. Heung-min Son, leading Tottenham in his home country for the first time since becoming club captain last summer, will play at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Saturday, August 3rd.

Tottenham had already announced a match against Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, August 10th, as part of the Malta Cup. This doubleheader could see Tottenham encounter their former star, Harry Kane, twice in one week for the first time since his transfer. Kane, Tottenham’s record scorer, left the club last summer to join Bayern in an £86.4 million deal plus add-ons, after scoring 280 goals in 435 appearances for Spurs.
