Liverpool is reportedly eyeing Sunderland’s rising talent, Chris Rigg, with several top European clubs closely monitoring the midfielder’s progress. The 16-year-old prodigy made his debut for the Black Cats under former manager Tony Mowbray at the age of 15 in December 2022, and has since made ten more appearances for the North-East club. Notably, Rigg etched his name in Sunderland’s history by becoming the youngest-ever goalscorer for the club at just 16 years and 51 days, finding the net in an EFL Cup clash against Crewe Alexandra in August.
Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Princess of Wales serves as the Patron of the Rugby Football League (RFL), and the Westminster Abbey gathering of 1,500 guests included representatives from both the RFL and Hull FC. Earlier in the year, Hull FC hosted a celebration of inclusivity event at their University of Hull-based Centre of Excellence, where the Princess engaged in an impressive debut in Wheelchair Rugby League, guided by England coach Tom Coyd MBE and Hull FC player-coach Mike Swainger. England Wheelchair World Cup winners Wayne Boardman, Lewis King, and Tom Halliwell OBE presented her with England shirts for children George, Louis, and Charlotte. Additionally, the Princess participated in separate sessions with Hull FC’s physical and learning disability teams.
Ten minutes into a close match at the Etihad Stadium, the England international scored after Haaland’s historic goal appeared to extend City’s record home winning streak. Everton’s visit to City on New Year’s Eve last December started a run of 23 victories for the club in all competitions at home.
