Sunderland winger Jack Diamond raped woman he met on Tinder after she agreed to ‘cuddle’

Sunderland’s winger Jack Diamond was suspended by his parent club after he was accused of rape and sexual assault in 2023 while on loan at Lincoln City. According to court documents, Diamond met the lady he would later have a “cuddle” with on Tinder and then assaulted her.

The 23-year-old is still suspended from the Championship club after being accused of rape and sexual assault in 2023. On May 7, 2022, the alleged crime took place at his residence in Falstone, Fatfield, Washington.
When Diamond appeared at Newcastle Crown Court, he denied any sexual assault or rape. The woman told police that after being attacked, she wanted to “physically throw up” but had accepted to a “cuddle” with the football player, the court heard.

Judge Povall KC began the prosecution’s case by saying that Diamond and the lady had connected on Tinder and that he had invited her to come for a “cuddle” at his place. The jury was informed that she was taking medicine at the time, which required her to abstain from sexual activity.

The court was also informed that Diamond had obviously “wanted more” following their initial bedtime snuggle. According to Mr. Povall, the victim “eventually” gave her assent to some sexual intercourse. However, the prosecution claimed that when she awoke later and saw Diamond “caressing her,” she urged him to stop.

The woman told police investigators during an interview that was aired in court that she “turned over and cried” following the first reported sexual assault. According to her, the football player was “quite aggressive” and “grabbed her wrists” during the alleged rape.
