Stoke City will make another bid for Luke Cundle from Wolves in January, reports Alan Nixon on Patreon.
Stoke City attempted to secure Luke Cundle during the summer transfer window, but the move didn’t go through. They will now need to wait until January to make another bid for the Wolves midfielder.
Cundle, 22, had a successful loan spell at Stoke last season, making 16 appearances and scoring twice. After returning to Wolves for pre-season, he remains a target for Stoke, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the Potters plan to pursue him again in the winter. For now, Stoke will either work with their current squad or explore the free agent market.
Re-signing Cundle would be a strategic move for Stoke. While Portsmouth was also linked with him, those rumors have been dismissed. Cundle’s contract with Wolves runs until 2026.
Having played for Warrington Town and Burnley before joining Wolves in 2014, Cundle has risen through the youth ranks at Molineux. He has made seven first-team appearances and participated in the current pre-season with Wolves. However, his chances of securing a regular spot in the Premier League are limited, making a return to Stoke an appealing option for more playing time.
Stoke City will resume their league campaign after the international break, starting with an away match against Oxford United followed by a home game against Hull City. They head into these fixtures with confidence after a recent 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle.
