Sol Sidibe, Jaden Dixon, Emre Tezgel, and Tommy Simkin shine for Stoke City internationally
Steven Schumacher has praised a standout week for Stoke City after four academy graduates represented England.
Sol Sidibe and Jaden Dixon featured for the England under-18s recently, while Tommy Simkin and Emre Tezgel joined the under-20s squad, which also included loanee Ashley Phillips.
Sidibe, 17, Dixon, 17, and Tezgel, 18, are expected to be part of the Stoke first team for their match against Oxford and might see action in the cup on Tuesday. Meanwhile, 19-year-old keeper Simkin is making waves on loan at Walsall in League Two.
Schumacher, who recently named Stoke’s youngest-ever league starting XI for a 1-0 win at Plymouth, is thrilled about their future prospects.
“It’s brilliant,” Schumacher said. “The academy has done an excellent job bringing through players who will impact the team now and in the future. We have a solid pathway for them here. I believe that if they’re good enough, they’re old enough, whether they’re 17 or 32. The young players have shown their potential, and their national team call-ups are a testament to their talent and everyone who has supported their development.”
