Steven Taylor, a former defender for Ipswich Town,, has been named the first head coach of Al Qabila FC, a new team in the United Arab Emirates.
The 38-year-old will be joining the team when they go into the UAE Pro League the following season.
After serving as the New Zealand team’s captain while playing for Wellington Phoenix in the A-League, Taylor announced his retirement from football in 2021.
In January 2022, the former Newcastle United player took over as head coach of Gulf United, a UAE team, and he guided them to consecutive promotions into the second division.
