The 49ers’ star seeks to leave the Bay Area
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Aiyuk is seeking a contract extension as he enters the final year of his deal, but the 49ers have not met his demands. Garafolo reports that the 49ers haven’t engaged in contract negotiations with Aiyuk since May.

The Steelers reportedly discussed trading for Aiyuk during the NFL Draft, but those talks “fell apart,” as former NFL general manager Mike Lombardi mentioned.
Adding Aiyuk alongside George Pickens would create a formidable receiving duo for the Steelers. Financially, they have the means to offer him a $30 million per year deal. Pittsburgh is projected to have around $89.6 million in cap space in 2025, per Spotrac, ranking third-highest in the NFL.
