Patrick Dorgu, a defender for Lecce, is apparently a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Tipsbladet.
The 19-year old is regarded highly in the Italian football scene, and the two English clubs may find that he is a wise long-term investment. He has already proven to be an important member of Lecce’s team, and in the upcoming campaigns, he hopes to further his growth by playing regular football.
It comes as no surprise that Chelsea wants to purchase a promising young left-back. Marc Cucurella has been mainly unimpressive since joining the team, and Ian Maatsen has been connected to leaving.
The Blues could definitely use more options at left-back, where Ben Chilwell is currently the only dependable player on the team. Dorgu could develop into a world-class defender under Mauricio Pochettino’s tutelage, making him an excellent long-term investment.
Regarding Tottenham, Ryan Sessegnon has failed to live up to the expectations since joining the team, and Ben Davies is approaching his twilight years. The only dependable left-back for Tottenham is Destiny Udogie, and Dorgu might challenge him for the starting position. In the upcoming months, it will be interesting to see which of the two English teams makes a firm offer to sign the defender.
Although Lecce would prefer not to lose a major player in January, they might give in if a tempting offer is made.
