Southampton are eyeing Maxwel Cornet from West Ham following a failed attempt to sign Tom Fellows from West Brom, as reported by the Daily Mail.
On August 29 (page 71), it was reported that Southampton’s attempt to sign a winger from West Brom was rejected. Now, the recently promoted side is targeting Ivory Coast international Maxwel Cornet from West Ham before the August 30 deadline.

Cornet, 27, joined West Ham from Burnley in a £17.5 million deal over two years ago [Sky Sports], but he has struggled to make a significant impact. While he had an electrifying start at Turf Moor, he hasn’t been able to replicate that form at the London Stadium.
With West Ham already having strong attacking options, including Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen, and with new signings like Crysencio Summerville set to push for starting roles, Cornet’s place in the squad seems uncertain.
A move away from West Ham could be beneficial for all parties, allowing Southampton to bring him in before the transfer window closes, and enabling the Hammers to secure a transfer fee that could fund further signings as manager Julen Lopetegui finalizes his squad for the season.
