Southampton prepare bid to outpace Everton for West Brom winger.

According to a report on Tuesday (27 August), Southampton are making a £10 million bid for 21-year-old Tom Fellows, who has also caught the eye of Everton and Leicester following an “outstanding” performance against Stoke over the weekend.

Southampton have been tracking the West Brom academy graduate since he impressed against them last season in the Championship. The Mail further states that West Brom are open to offers for Fellows as they aim to comply with the Championship’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

While the Baggies might be considering offers, £10 million seems very low for a promising English forward in excellent form, especially since Fellows has three years left on his contract. West Brom have already sold several players at reduced prices this summer to meet EFL’s PSR requirements, so they may not need to sell Fellows unless an extraordinary bid comes in. However, £10 million appears insufficient.

Last season, Fellows contributed four goals and three assists in 33 Championship appearances, helping Albion secure a playoff spot with a fifth-place finish. In the current season, he leads the Championship’s assists chart with three assists in just three league games, including two in West Brom’s 2-1 victory over Stoke.

While Everton are interested in Fellows, it seems Southampton are currently ahead in the race. However, they may need to increase their offer to persuade West Brom to sell. Meanwhile, Everton are also looking for an “emergency” replacement for a player who could depart in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
