Southampton and Leicester City are expressing interest in Slovenian international midfielder Timi Max Elsnik. The 26-year-old, who began his career at Derby County, has been making a significant impact at Olimpija Ljubljana. His impressive performances have earned him a starting position in Slovenia’s Euro 2024 squad.
Elsnik played a crucial role in Slovenia’s goalless draw against England last week. His standout performance in the 1-1 draw with Serbia earned him a spot in the Euros’ Team of Group Stage Matchday Two. As Slovenia prepares to face Portugal on Monday, Elsnik is expected to be a key player once again.
In addition to Southampton and Leicester City, Lazio and Lyon are also interested in Elsnik. However, the £5.5 million asking price has particularly caught the attention of the Premier League sides as they look to bolster their squads for their return to the top flight. Leicester City recently rejected a bid from Chelsea for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with some Chelsea players involved in the deal hesitant to move, though negotiations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, Southampton is set to sign Burnley defender Charlie Taylor as a free agent, further strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
