Southampton and Hull City could compete for a Manchester City prospect.

According to reporter Jack Rosser on X, Southampton are keen on Manchester City striker Liam Delap.

Southampton are gearing up for their return to the Premier League following their Championship play-off final victory over Leeds United at Wembley. With a crucial summer ahead, they aim to strengthen their squad for the top-flight challenge.

One player on Southampton’s radar is Manchester City striker Liam Delap, 21, who had an impressive loan spell at Hull City last season. Hull City are keen to bring Delap back, according to a report by HullLive, but it remains uncertain if that will happen.

Journalist Jack Rosser on X has noted that Delap is among the Saints’ targets. He scored eight goals in 32 games during his time at the MKM Stadium, making him an attractive option for Southampton to enhance their attacking options.

Despite his potential, Delap’s chances of breaking into Southampton’s first team in the Premier League are uncertain, as he remains unproven at the top level. While he impressed at Hull City, he missed a significant part of the season due to injury and might benefit from another year in the Championship.

Delap joined Manchester City from Derby County in 2019 and has made six appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring once. He had previous loan spells at Stoke City and Preston North End but struggled to find the net, scoring only four goals combined for the two clubs.

Manchester City now face a decision on Delap’s future. With Erling Haaland as their main striker, Delap is unlikely to break into the starting XI. They must decide whether to loan him out again or sell him permanently.
