Ian Maatsen, a left-back for Chelsea, is still a target for West Ham in the January transfer window.
One of the Hammers’ top priorities in the winter transfer window is to replace seasoned player Aaron Cresswell in defense.
West Ham is not the only team in the race, though. Galetti claims that Borussia Dortmund, the dominant team in Germany, is more intent in acquiring him. They are continuing to put pressure on Chelsea and should act in the next few days.
The Italian journalist goes on to say that Chelsea has placed a roughly £17 million price tag on the defender.
Any prospective team hoping to recruit the young player on loan will have to purchase him permanently at the end of the current campaign, according to Chelsea.
For the Hammers, this is a huge window for transfers. They have advanced to the knockout stages of the Europa League thanks to their excellent performance thus far. West Ham has also performed exceptionally well in the Premier League under David Moyes.
Mauricio Pochettino has no intention of using Maatsen. With his whole career ahead of him at age 21, West Ham can afford to take a chance. He can be signed on loan with the intention of making it permanent.
According to Sky Sports, negotiations to sign Hammers defender Thilo Keherer have advanced at AS Monaco, a French team. Moyes can bring in guys like Maatsen and free up salary space if he can get rid of some of the periphery players.
