Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl has shared his and chairman Dejphon Chansiri’s mutual dream of seeing the Owls ascend to the Premier League. Last season, Wednesday narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship on the final day, thanks to a significant turnaround in fortunes following Röhl’s appointment in October. Now, he faces a pivotal summer marked by a substantial rebuild due to numerous player departures.
Röhl, who is ambitious about working at the highest level, has spoken enthusiastically about leading Sheffield Wednesday to the top tier of English football. In an interview with the Training Ground Guru podcast, Röhl was asked if he felt the chairman supported his project after the positive momentum from last season. Röhl responded affirmatively, indicating that this shared vision was a key reason behind the extension of his contract. He stated, “I think we both – the owner and I – have dreamed about the Premier League for a long time… If we make good steps forwards then I think there’s a chance.” He emphasized the importance of playing good football, signing quality players, and developing the club incrementally, including improving facilities.
Sheffield Wednesday’s preseason will kick off in a few weeks at Middlewood Road, followed by training camps at St. George’s Park in England and another in Germany.
