AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni addressed inquiries regarding Stefano Pioli’s future and potential Middle East investment ahead of the Empoli game.
In recent weeks, a recurring cycle has emerged involving rumors of potential investment or a takeover of AC Milan from the Middle East, followed by subsequent denials.
This week, Il Sole 24 Ore and journalist Carlo Festa suggested that the Saudi sovereign fund PIF is eyeing new investments in Europe, with Milan being a target. Amidst these speculations, Stefano Pioli’s future with the team is also a topic of discussion.
Although he is under contract until June 2025, there are rumors of a possible parting of ways before the next season. AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni addressed these matters in an interview with DAZN just before the San Siro game, stating that Pioli’s future is merely a media buzzword and emphasizing the need for calm and focus on work.
Regarding the PIF rumors, Scaroni dismissed them, referring to comments made by Giorgio Furlani, asserting that there is no truth to the speculations. He labeled it as another media buzzword that doesn’t hold any substance.
Scaroni also provided insights into a recent meeting with WeBuild, emphasizing AC Milan’s commitment to advancing the San Donato project, their top priority. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to renovate San Siro, expressing a positive stance on Mayor Sala’s proposal for a final attempt at renovation.
The focus is on WeBuild’s project, which aims to modernize San Siro while accommodating the needs of two football teams playing simultaneously in cup competitions. Scaroni mentioned the importance of considering the impact on teams, fans, and the public, with a verdict expected after WeBuild presents their results by June.
