SAD NEWS: A Browns player who is prone to injuries tends to another illness during minicamp.

This week, the Cleveland Browns held their required minicamp, moving on to the next phase of their summer training. Before training camp later this summer, this will be the last formal session for both newbies and seasoned athletes to develop some synergy. Regretfully, an injury prevented one recent recruit from taking part on Tuesday. The Browns announced that wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was absent from this session due to a “minor” health issue. Jeudy’s involvement in exercises has been sporadic during offseason camp, according to Mark Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Head coach Kevin Stefanski also mentioned following practice that the veteran is “working through some things.” This update from Deshaun Watson’s newly acquired new target is not ideal for a number of reasons.

Although being on and off the field won’t benefit either player, these early workouts are the ideal opportunity for Jeudy to begin developing a relationship with his quarterback. And there’s the reality that Amari Cooper is holding out for a contract extension, which has caused the Browns to deal with further turmoil at wide receiver. With Cooper out of the picture, Jeudy could head this unit at minicamp, but his health is holding him back. Jeudy has faced with injuries of some form on numerous occasions before. The star player for Alabama had a torn meniscus in college, and after spraining his high ankle in the 2021 season, he missed six games.

Jeudy missed two more games in 2022 because of a different ankle problem. Additionally, Jeudy missed Week 1 in 2023 after being carted off during training camp due to a hamstring ailment. Now, Jeudy’s nursing another illness shouldn’t be a reason for concern just yet. The former first-round pick still has a significant amount of the offseason left to heal his body. Nevertheless, considering his past, it’s concerning that Jeudy isn’t even 100 percent healthy yet and hasn’t yet participated in a Browns game. Hopefully, this does not portend bad things for the wide receiver, who in March agreed to a $52 million, three-year agreement.
