Texas Rowing’s Anna Jensen has been selected as one of eight finalists for the CRCA Division I Athlete of the Year.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Rowing’s Anna Jensen has been named one of eight finalists for the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I Athlete of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday.
Jensen, a three-time CRCA First Team All-American, three-time national champion, and the 2024 Big 12 Rower of the Year, played a crucial role in Texas Rowing’s third NCAA Championship victory in 2024 – their third national title in four years.
The Midland, Mich., native led Texas’ I Eight to an unbeaten season, with UT winning every race in 2024. Under Jensen’s leadership, the Texas I Eight has remained undefeated in three of the last four seasons.
Jensen was instrumental in Texas First Varsity Eight’s national championship win on June 2 in Bethel, Ohio. The team secured the program’s third Varsity Eight national title with a thrilling victory (6:09.920). Despite Princeton’s early lead, Texas quickly took control and maintained it throughout the remaining 1,500 meters, finishing with a half-boat length advantage.
Jensen’s remarkable achievements have earned her a place in the program’s record book, joining Longhorn greats Gia Doonan, Emily Froehlich, and Kate Knifton as three-time first-team honorees.
The CRCA Athlete of the Year Award, now in its third year, recognizes individual efforts, impactful actions, and remarkable outcomes achieved over the academic year. It highlights a student-athlete who has been a top performer in a sport where individual recognition is rare.
