Following Friday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins, head coach Robert Saleh of the New York Jets refused to name a starting quarterback. It appears that all he required was a restful night’s sleep. Tim Boyle will remain with the team, Saleh informed reporters during his press conference on Saturday.
Robert Saleh of the New York Jets remains loyal to Tim Boyle
The Boyle stat line wasn’t very bad. Along with two interceptions and one touchdown, he completed 27 of 38 passes for 179 yards. Still, the offense had a striking similarity. They had backbreaking plays that gave the opposing team a significant advantage, and they had trouble moving the ball consistently. The Jets’ decision to stick with Boyle isn’t shocking at all. Zach Wilson is no longer an option, and Trevor Siemian is the only other quarterback, who is probably not a significant improvement. By ignoring the backup position, the Jets put themselves in a difficult situation, and now they are paying for it.
A Mastermind Behind Their Own Destroying
This demonstrates the importance of having a backup quarterback position. Although nobody anticipated the backup to be as good as Aaron Rodgers, the backup ought to have been able to win a few games considering how strong the defense is. As a team, the Jets are now left with more questions than answers. Will Saleh be given a pass or will he make it through the season? To what extent can they improve the team surrounding Rodgers? It will be interesting to watch if they can fight their way out of the corner they have painted themselves into.
You must have some sympathy for Saleh. Four snaps into the season, he thought he had a competent offense, but it was quickly destroyed. It is hoped that Rodgers returns and this team can contend in 2024.
