Before their Championship match on Saturday afternoon, the writers of The72 provide their prediction between Birmingham City and Sunderland.
Birmingham City defeated Blackburn Rovers 1-0 at St. Andrew’s Stadium before to this weekend’s matchup. John Eustace’s team lost against Andre Dozzell’s team by three goals in the 77th minute.
After their dismal performance under former manager Wayne Rooney, the Blues’ victory was significant since it increased their lead above the relegation zone to six points. Currently ranked eighteenth in the Championship rankings.
After a dismal loss to Huddersfield Town away from home, Sunderland will travel to Birmingham. In a closely contested match, Matty Pearson’s goal in the first half proved to be insufficient to save the Black Cats from defeat while they were away.
Michael Beale’s team’s hopes of making the playoffs were only somewhat damaged by the outcome, as Sunderland dropped to 10th in the Championship but was still just one point behind Coventry City in sixth place.
Here are some of our writers’ predictions for the match…
Jacob Hackett “Bristol will have benefited greatly from their most recent victory, both for the three points and for their outstanding performance.
“The team led by Tony Mowbray deserved to win, and they will use this as inspiration for their upcoming home game against the Black Cats, which is their second straight.
Although it won’t be an easy match for Beale’s team, Sunderland will be motivated to win after losing on Saturday since they still have great play-off hopes.
“I think this match will be fairly close, with both teams having a chance to score. With the quality available in the offensive third, a score tie looks like a reasonable forecast.
James Ray
“Mowbray is determined to get revenge on his old team and increase the gap between Birmingham City and the relegation zone in the process. The good news for the Blues is that their manager is well-versed on the opposition’s roster, so they should be able to neutralize the primary threats.
Jack Clarke must remain silent if we are to defeat the Black Cats. When he’s not at his best, Sunderland finds it difficult to generate much other offensive momentum.
Birmingham City is likely to try to take advantage of that, which might lead to a close encounter. I’ll declare that the score is now 1-1.
