Although the Denver Broncos seem to be in need of a quarterback on paper, it’s possible that they already have their starting quarterback for 2024 on the roster.
There’s increasing evidence to suggest that Jarrett Stidham will probably start at quarterback for the Broncos when the 2024 season gets started. According to a recent report from Mike Klis of 9 News, Stidham is the team’s most likely starter for the time being, but they plan to add a youngster to the mix.
In addition, ESPN’s Jeff Legwold pointed out on Sunday that the Broncos have not been active in the free agency quarterback market, and even though head coach Sean Payton hopes to address the position this offseason, a move seems doubtful.
Due to a significant dead cap hit from releasing Russell Wilson, the Broncos are unable to compete with elite quarterback contracts, which severely limits their options. The $10 million contract that Sam Darnold signed with the Minnesota Vikings would have taken up almost half of the Broncos’ available cap space.
The Broncos may not have many other choices, but Stidham might not give them much confidence. They have the 12th overall pick in the draft, but it might already be too late to select one of the best quarterbacks available.
