Marek Papszun stated on Wednesday that he is “open” to taking over as Sunderland’s manager, according to WP SportoweFakty.
Since leaving Raków Częstochowa in the summer of last year, the Pole has not been back on the bench, and he has already stated that he wants to finish his vacation soon.
After the Sunderland claims surfaced, Meczyki.pl journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk, relayed by Transfery Info, provides the latest on the 49-year-old.
In recent months, Papszun has been connected to a number of positions; these include national teams from Poland, Latvia, and the Czech Republic, as well as Dynamo Kiev, OFI Crete, and Olympiakos. This list now includes the Black Cats.
After meeting with Włodarczyk in Warsaw last month, Okno Transferowe of Meczyki.pl learned that the coach had already turned down offers from OFI Crete and Latvia.
Papszun’s name was first mentioned in the English media’s report about the Championship team. The reporter now asserts that “Papszun is indeed receiving interest from England,” though she did not say for sure if this interest is coming from Sunderland or another team.
Michael Beale was fired by Sunderland earlier this week, and Mike Dodds was named manager in interim status through the end of the current campaign.
