Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are reportedly top targets for Real Madrid’s 2024 transfer overhaul.
Summer goals will be top of mind at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but Los Blancos are not planning to bolster their squad in January.
While Mbappe continues to be a top priority for Real Madrid, changes are anticipated in the Spanish capital, with new players expected to arrive and veteran players expected to depart.
Despite reports of dissatisfaction with the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s representatives during the transfer window, Real Madrid remains optimistic about making a free transfer move.
Real Madrid will need to activate Haaland’s incoming €200 million release clause in order to push for the Norwegian striker, but a deal may be possible given the available funds.
Real Madrid currently has €128 million to spend on new players, according to reports from Diario AS. An additional €265 million in funding is scheduled to be released in 2024 for reinforcements.
That amount would cover a portion of Mbappe’s and Haaland’s respective contracts, facilitating a bid for Haaland.
To stay in compliance with UEFA FFP and La Liga regulations, the team does, however, also intend to make significant salary reductions.
With €519 million of their €712 million revenue going toward salaries, Real Madrid is currently just over the 70% wage threshold for 2025.
However, that percentage is expected to decrease to €452 million of €843 million, which will increase their capacity to sign two extremely talented new players.
