According to a story that surfaced in Germany, Real Madrid is reportedly in talks to recruit AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw this summer.
The most recent report from Bild states that Real Madrid is “working intensively” to sign Milan’s German international Malick Thiaw. The contract with the Rossoneri, which ties him to Schalke until 2027, is currently worth almost €30 million.
After joining Schalke in 2015, the central defender worked his way up to the senior squad, where he made his debut in 2020. In the summer of 2022, for €8.8 million, he transferred to Milan after 61 competitive appearances and three goals.
Due largely to a chronic thigh ailment, the 22-year-old has only appeared in 17 league games for Milan this season. The management’s position on a possible sale is not discussed in the paper, although a recent report did identify him as a possible exit candidate in the event that the proper offer materializes.
Thiaw did not start the last two league games against Inter and Roma in the Europa League, which may indicate that Stefano Pioli no longer has as much faith in him. However, Pioli is likely to be fired, so the new head coach may have a different viewpoint.
