‘Ready’: Sunderland striker sends Tottenham message ahead of final after Reading and West Ham comebacks

Trey Ogunsuyi, the striker for Sunderland U21s, eagerly anticipates Sunday’s Premier League 2 final against Tottenham. Reflecting on his recent performance, Ogunsuyi described scoring the decisive goal in the semi-final against Reading as an incredible experience. His crucial goal came in the 120th minute, securing a victory for the young Black Cats in extra-time at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. This goal marked the 17-year-old’s second in the Premier League 2, following a previous score against Wolves in the round of 16. Ogunsuyi expressed his elation, stating, “It was amazing, I can’t describe it, but I ran and celebrated once I saw the ball hit the back of the net. To help seal the win was a great feeling. We had to fight all game, and coming from behind showed the team’s spirit.”

Under the guidance of Graeme Murty, Sunderland’s U21 team is set to face Tottenham in the Premier League 2 final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, with a kick-off scheduled for 3pm. Tickets are available at £10 for adults and £2 for under-18s. The victory over Reading was particularly notable as it marked Sunderland’s third consecutive comeback in knockout matches, following previous successes against Wolves and West Ham. The team has shown significant progress this season under the leadership of Murty and his assistant coach, John Hewitson.
