Ravichandran Ashwin praises the Indian pacer, saying, “Mukesh Kumar would become junior Shami”.

Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is pleased with how Mukesh Kumar has performed for the Men in Blue in the few opportunities he has had.

At first regarded as a red-ball guru, Mukesh has drawn notice for his seemingly effortless yorker nailing. The Bengal pacer could become Mohammed Shami’s heir, in Ashwin’s opinion.

What Ashwin said about Kumar in a video posted to his YouTube channel is as follows:

“Although I now believe Mukesh Kumar could replace Mohammad Siraj as the junior Shami, that was my initial thought. I refer to Shami as Lalettan in honor of the actor Mohanlal, who goes by Lalettan.” Shami is known by the name “Lala.”

He continued, saying:

“Mukesh is similarly built, tall, and has an excellent wrist position. He also has excellent backspin on the ball and a great wrist whip. He is really nicely aligned and straight.”He had been excellent in a practice game in Barbados and had bowled really well in the West Indies series.”
