Rangers make bold move for 21-year-old player ahead of Wayne Rooney.

Rangers aim to beat Wayne Rooney to a summer transfer deal.

Rangers had a mixed 2023/24 season, highlighted by their Scottish League Cup victory under Philippe Clement’s management. However, they fell short in other competitions, failing to secure the Scottish Premiership title, losing the Scottish FA Cup final, and exiting the Europa League in the last 16. Eager to break Celtic’s dominance in the Premiership, Rangers are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window. They have already secured signings like Jefte and Oscar Cortes, the latter returning on loan from Lens, and Clinton Nsiala, who will join permanently from AC Milan on July 1st.

The club’s transfer activity is far from over. Rangers are reportedly eyeing a £5m move for Nathaniel Adjei from Hammarby, aiming to bolster their squad further. Additionally, they are leading the chase for Bayern Munich’s 20-year-old forward Yusuf Kabadayi in a potential deal worth between £1-1.5m.

Connor-Barron-Aberdeen

In another development, Rangers have intensified their interest in Connor Barron, who is set to become a free agent after his contract with Aberdeen expires this summer. The midfielder, a product of Aberdeen’s academy, impressed with 42 appearances last season, drawing interest from several clubs. However, Rangers have emerged as frontrunners for his signature, despite competition from the likes of Plymouth Argyle under Wayne Rooney, Swansea City, Stoke City, Hellas Verona, and Cardiff City.

Scott Gemmill, the Scotland U21 manager, has praised Barron’s abilities and character, highlighting his resilience after overcoming injury setbacks. The Daily Record has reported that Rangers have made a substantial offer for the talented 21-year-old, emphasizing their determination to secure his services. As Barron will move on a free transfer, Rangers will need to negotiate a compensation fee with Aberdeen to finalize the deal.
