The transfer saga surrounding Ramón Sosa’s move to Nottingham Forest has led a teammate to defend the player after he reportedly forced his way to the Premier League. Sosa officially joined Forest for £9.3m from Argentine club CA Talleres, after weeks of uncertainty. Initially, it seemed the deal was off, but Sosa pushed for the transfer by refusing to play, eventually securing a five-year contract.
Before the deal was finalized, Talleres midfielder Matías Galarza spoke about the toll the prolonged negotiations had on Sosa. Galarza revealed that Sosa was deeply affected by the uncertainty, especially after returning from the Copa América with fewer minutes than expected and then facing doubts about his transfer. Galarza, who defended Sosa throughout, said the move was the best outcome for both the player and the club, highlighting Sosa’s impact as one of the best players in Argentine soccer.
The transfer was almost derailed last week when Talleres’ president accused Forest of attempting to alter the agreed terms. However, Sosa’s determination to join Forest prevailed, with the club’s chief football officer, Ross Wilson, expressing excitement over the signing, noting Sosa’s enthusiasm and pride in joining the team.
Sosa’s arrival adds to Forest’s summer signings, including Jota Silva, Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Eric da Silva Moreira, and goalkeeper Carlos Miguel. Forest kicks off their Premier League season against Bournemouth, hoping to avoid another relegation battle.
