Rafael Nadal says he will miss Australian Open after suffering injury during comeback tournament

Rafael Nadal will not play at the Australian Open after suffering an injury during Friday’s Brisbane International quarter-final against Jordan Thompson, he announced in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The 22-time Grand Slam winner suffered a “micro-tear in the muscle,” he said, though not in the same place as the hip injury that sidelined him for much of last season. “Right now I’m not ready to compete in a top level 5 series match.
I’m flying back to Spain for a doctor, treatment and holiday,” he added..
