Premier League star sent home early from international duty for breaking team rules

Arijanet Muric was recalled early from international duty.

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric has been sent home early from international duty after reportedly breaking team rules while playing for Kosovo. The 25-year-old participated in Kosovo’s defeat to Romania on Friday but will miss their upcoming match against Cyprus.

According to the Kosovo FA, Muric, along with Edon Zhegrova and Florent Muslija, was sent home for violating national team regulations. The FA’s statement mentioned that further measures would be decided upon by the executive committee.

Muric, however, disputed these claims, telling Kosovan newspaper Klan Kosova that the decision and the rumors surrounding it were unjust.

Muric insisted the decision to send him home early was 'not fair at all'

Muric joined Ipswich over the summer from Burnley for approximately £8 million. He missed the season opener due to injury but returned for Ipswich’s game against Manchester City, where he made some costly errors. Despite this, he later earned praise for a stunning save against Erling Haaland, nominated for the Premier League’s Save of the Month for August.

He performed better in Ipswich’s home draw against Fulham and is expected to start against Brighton this weekend. Prior to Ipswich, Muric made 55 appearances for Burnley, contributing to their Championship title win in 2023.
