Player requested that Fulham buy him from the club. Accepted wanted offer; now has a second opportunity

We have reported during the last week that Fulham may soon have another opportunity to sign Morato from Benfica.

Despite turning down the Whites’ initial offer, it has been reported that the Eagles are now thinking about letting the Brazilian go.

Today, Record publishes a similar report, but this time they assert that Morato was genuinely very interested in joining Fulham.

The defender begged Benfica to release him when Fulham made a €25 million offer for him last summer, according to the newspaper.

He was promised additional playing opportunities when the Eagles turned down his proposals, but that hasn’t exactly happened; he was eventually moved to left-back and most recently lost his spot on the squad.

After that, Fulham ought to have another opportunity to sign him, ideally for a price close to what they bid for him in the summer.

Perhaps this is even more of a motivation for Marco Silva’s team to bring Morato to Craven Cottage—he proved to be a flexible defender by playing abroad.
