Leeds United have been strongly linked with a move to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi this summer, and he has now been left out of the Eagles’ pre-season tour.
Leeds’ transfer focus this summer has been ensuring the club has as much continuity as possible with major sales expected.
Losing at least one of the star wingers the club possesses is likely, and replacing them with the right amount of quality is a must. The Daily Mail reported earlier in July that Leeds are one of multiple clubs that are considering a move to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
At 20, Rak-Sakyi is in need of better playing opportunities than he’s currently getting at Selhurst Park, having shone on loan at Charlton in League One back in 22/23.
Leeds’ interest comes alongside a handful of Championship rivals while Southampton in the Premier League are pursuing a deal that sees the winger join long-term.
As preparations hone in for the start of the domestic season in August, Palace have headed out for their pre-season tour of the USA.
Not included in their squad is Rak-Sakyi, with journalist Alan Nixon revealing that the Eagles are surprised by the winger’s decision to stay home, amid interest.
He had been expected to be named as part of their squad, but is instead remaining in the UK while interest develops.
It looks virtually certain that Rak-Sakyi will be leaving Palace on loan or permanently this summer, but Leeds being his destination is currently hard to see.
He’s not short of interest from clubs that could play him every week, so Leeds would have to act fast to sign him.
The problem there is that Leeds are only going to sign Rak-Sakyi if (or when) one of Gnonto or Summerville leave, which isn’t close to happening right now.
