The Pittsburgh Steelers were actively pursuing a trade for wide receiver Christian Kirk of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but those plans were derailed when Kirk suffered a collarbone injury in Week 8, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Despite this setback, Schefter indicated that the Steelers continued to seek wide receivers leading up to the trade deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Names like Mike Williams from the New York Jets and Adam Thielen of the Carolina Panthers emerged as potential targets for the team. Nevertheless, even if the Steelers fail to acquire another option for quarterback Russell Wilson, Quarterbacks Coach Tom Arth remains optimistic about the team’s ability to generate more explosive plays in the latter half of the season. “I think ‘Russ’ has played very well,” Arth commented on the team’s website, highlighting Wilson’s strength in pushing the ball downfield. He noted that the team has been creating opportunities for big plays, which has been advantageous.
The Steelers, currently boasting a 6-2 record, enjoyed a bye week in Week 9 and are set to face the Washington Commanders, who hold a 7-2 record, in Week 10.
On the other hand, the Cleveland Browns are struggling, having fallen to a 2-7 record following a 27-10 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers. With their playoff hopes dwindling, All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett has expressed his determination to keep fighting. He emphasized that the season is only halfway through, and there is still time to make a comeback. “Eight games left, we can turn it around and aim for a 10-7 finish,” Garrett stated on the team’s website. He believes that the team’s success hinges on their character, pride, and willingness to put in the necessary work. As the team’s standout player, Garrett feels a responsibility to lead by example, stating that he prefers to show his teammates how to succeed rather than just telling them.
Despite his individual success in the last game, where he recorded three sacks, Garrett expressed that personal achievements mean little in the face of the team’s losses. “There’s no balance,” he remarked. “There’s just loss. I’d rather have no sacks every game than continue losing the way we are. It’s frustrating as hell.”
