Paul Merson is always keen on making Premier League predictions, and he’s come up with an intriguing one for the Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea matchup.
Few would have expected Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to remain unbeaten after their first five games of the season. Despite a disappointing performance in their last outing, Nottingham Forest will be pleased with their overall start.
Now, Forest face a challenging trip to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League clash against Chelsea. It won’t be an easy match, especially with Cole Palmer in top form, coming off a four-goal display against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Paul Merson has weighed in with his prediction ahead of Sunday’s game, expecting plenty of goals in what could be a thrilling encounter.
Paul Merson’s Prediction for Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea
Merson accurately predicted a good result for Forest against Brighton a few weeks ago and warned Forest about Fulham, though he anticipated a draw. Now, he’s made his call for the Chelsea game, and it doesn’t bode well for Forest.
In his Sportskeeda column, Merson predicted a 4-2 win for Chelsea.
“I expect a really entertaining game. Make no mistake, this is a difficult and dangerous game for Chelsea. Nottingham Forest are always a threat on the counter-attack and have already won at Anfield.
“Chelsea don’t look comfortable at the back. If you press them, you’ll get chances, but pressing high leaves Forest vulnerable at the back too. I can’t see Chelsea not scoring, but I also think Forest will find the net.”
Morgan Gibbs-White’s Return
Morgan Gibbs-White missed the Fulham game due to suspension but is set to return for the Chelsea clash. He’ll slot back into his usual role, with Espirito Santo hoping his creativity will support Chris Wood or Taiwo Awoniyi.
At Stamford Bridge, it will be a battle of England’s two number 10s.
