Dan Bardell has urged Leeds United fans to get behind Patrick Bamford after recent criticism of his form.
The Englishman has come under fire from the Elland Road faithful in recent months for a lack of goal output from their number nine.
The 30-year-old has scored just one in his last ten appearances and has started the new campaign in a negative fashion with a selection of poor performances.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes supporters need to back the striker to help give his form a boost.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “They are short in attacking areas so I don’t think they can afford to let anyone go.
“The criticism is something that’s not new to Bamford.
“He’s obviously going through a tough time at the moment but that isn’t going to help him find his form.
“Leeds at the moment with the way their squad is they need to get behind Bamford and help him get back to his best because they just don’t have the bodies at the moment to sustain a promotion push.“
Leeds United urged to give Patrick Bamford boost
The former Chelsea starlet has had a tough time at Elland Road over the past few seasons having failed to reach ten goals since the 2020/21 season.
For whatever reason, Bamford always performed to a better level in the Premier League and has historically struggled in front of goal for Leeds in the Championship.
Bardell has urged for some additional support but the majority of fans have reached the end of their patience with the striker.
This was not helped by his performance in the disappointing 3-0 League Cup defeat to Middlesbrough.
It has to be said that the ex-Boro man looked unfit against his former side so if he reaches peak fitness in the coming weeks, his form could improve.
