Nottingham Forest is about to miss out on a midfield target.
Nuno Espirito Santo is still eager to strengthen his squad this summer transfer window as he aims to push Nottingham Forest into mid-table contention.
He is determined to avoid another relegation battle, making the addition of one or two more quality players essential.
However, Forest is set to miss out on a rumored target they pursued earlier in the window.
Ezequiel Fernandez Set to Join Al Qadsiah
Just last week, Nottingham Forest news reported that the club had made an £18m bid for Boca Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez. The East Midlanders were eager to bring him to the City Ground following his impressive performances for Boca and Argentina’s youth teams.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Fernandez is now set to reject a move to the Premier League in favor of joining Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah. The transfer specialist notes that Fernandez is poised to sign a five-year deal after a clause in his contract was activated.
Onto the Next One for Forest…
Nottingham Forest should consider Ben Sheaf
It’s clear that Nottingham Forest is still in the market for a holding midfielder, and Coventry City’s Ben Sheaf should be considered. The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Championship and appears ready to make the jump to the top flight.
Sheaf is similar in style to Declan Rice, and his driving runs would suit Nuno’s traditional approach well.
In other news, a manager has indicated that his club is now unlikely to sign a ‘special’ Nottingham Forest player after talks collapsed.
