Nottingham Forest’s strong start to the season has prompted the club to pursue contract extensions for a few key players.
Nuno Espirito Santo has brought out the best in several Nottingham Forest players, helping the team reach 10th place heading into the international break. One standout performer is Ola Aina, who has exceeded expectations since joining on a free transfer last summer and has now secured a regular starting spot.
According to John Percy, Nottingham Forest is set to begin contract talks with Aina, rewarding his impressive performances. However, Aina’s rise has also caught the attention of AS Roma, making it crucial for the club to act quickly.
In addition to Aina, owner Evangelos Marinakis is focused on securing another key player’s future at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest is reportedly preparing to offer a new deal to Chris Wood, as revealed by Alex Crook.
Wood, who has become a central figure under Espirito Santo, is in talks to extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season. The manager is eager to keep him on board.
Chris Wood has been in fine form this season, scoring four goals in seven Premier League matches. His physical presence has made him a “nightmare” for defenders, as noted by Ally McCoist, and he now sits just behind Stan Collymore and Bryan Roy in Forest’s all-time scoring charts. Though Taiwo Awoniyi has been Forest’s go-to striker in the past, Wood has now firmly claimed that role under Espirito Santo’s leadership.
