Nottingham Forest are actively pursuing a new striker before the transfer window shuts on August 30. With concerns over Taiwo Awoniyi’s injury record and Chris Wood’s age at 32, the club initially focused on Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah. Despite reportedly agreeing on a £30 million transfer fee, personal terms with Nketiah couldn’t be finalized.

Now, Forest’s attention has shifted to Santiago Gimenez of Feyenoord. According to well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano, the club has submitted a £28 million bid for the 23-year-old forward. Gimenez is reportedly eager to join Forest, leaving the final decision to negotiations between the two clubs.

If the deal goes through, it would mark a record sale for Feyenoord. Gimenez, who began his career at Cruz Azul before moving to Feyenoord in 2022, has been highly impressive, scoring 53 goals and providing 13 assists in 90 appearances. He played a crucial role in Feyenoord’s Eredivisie title win in the 2022-23 season.

Given Forest’s struggles in front of goal last season, finishing just six points above relegation, securing a proven goalscorer like Gimenez could be vital for their Premier League campaign.
