Nottingham Forest are aiming to bolster their midfield before the 2024 summer transfer window shuts.

The Tricky Trees have already made several signings this summer, including Nikolo Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson, Jota Silva, and Ramon Sosa. However, they are still looking to add more players on deadline day.

Sky Sports reports that Forest are exploring the possibility of a deal for James Ward-Prowse. The England international is a seasoned midfielder with 463 club appearances to his name.

Ward-Prowse, an academy graduate of Southampton, scored 55 goals and provided 52 assists in 410 appearances for the club between 2011 and 2023. He joined West Ham United last summer in a £30 million move after Southampton’s relegation to the Championship.

Despite playing a key role for the Hammers last season with 51 appearances in all competitions, the club’s heavy spending this summer has seen Ward-Prowse fall down the pecking order. West Ham might be open to offers for the 29-year-old.

Signing Ward-Prowse would be a strong addition for Nottingham Forest, but it’s uncertain if they can finalize the deal before the window closes.

Forest were also in talks for Roma’s Edoardo Bove, but the Italian midfielder is now set to join Eintracht Frankfurt. They had made an official offer for the 22-year-old, but he appears to prefer a move to the German club.
