Nottingham Forest player skips team dinner – Choice stirs discontent

Sweden’s manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has left Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga out of the squad for November’s international break. Last week, Tomasson revealed that the 22-year-old had not responded to his calls or messages after learning about his omission.

According to Fotbollskanalen, Elanga’s actions last month did not sit well with Sweden’s national team. Although he was called up in September and October, Elanga didn’t see any playing time during Sweden’s matches against Slovakia and Estonia. Disappointed by the lack of minutes, he reportedly skipped the team’s closing dinner in October, becoming the only player absent from the event.

When asked about Elanga’s exclusion, Tomasson told SVT Sport, “I don’t comment on what happens in the squad. It stays in the squad.” On handling young players disappointed by limited playing time, he added, “We have clear guidelines on how we do things when we are together. It’s the same at my house. We want to socialise, we want to have a good time together.”

Elanga has provided two assists in 12 appearances for Nottingham Forest this season.
