Nottingham Forest has made a £16.9m bid for a Leeds United player ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report this weekend.
Leeds chairman Paraag Marathe has confirmed that the club needs to sell players this summer. This comes in light of reports that Leeds owes £190m in player transfers and must comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Players like Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Ilia Gruev, and others have been linked with exits this summer. Marathe has even suggested the possible sale of Gray, a move that would likely anger Leeds fans.
One player expected to leave Elland Road in the coming weeks is Willy Gnonto. The winger tried to force a move away from the club last summer, refusing to play in three matches.

Gnonto did not play against West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City, and Shrewsbury Town in the Cup. However, he returned to the squad under Daniel Farke, initially as a fringe player.
In January, Gnonto became a regular in the team alongside Gruev, Junior Firpo, and Patrick Bamford. He was a first-choice player during the second half of the season, scoring nine goals for Leeds.
Despite his potential, Gnonto did not meet expectations in the Premier League. There is a belief that he is capable of much more, and now, Africa Foot reports that Forest has made an offer for him.
Forest is not the only club interested in Gnonto.
It is reported that Forest has offered £16.9m for Gnonto and is very interested in bringing the Italian to The City Ground this summer. Leeds has yet to respond, but a decision is expected soon.
Gnonto is also keen on a return to his home country, with boyhood club Inter Milan interested in adding a homegrown player. Whether Forest is the right move for Gnonto remains to be seen, as he will face competition from players like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Nicolas Dominguez, and Anthony Elanga.
